My fiancé is a country boy and I’m a city girl -
- how do we compromise and both feel that our needs are being met? I know he wouldn’t want an urban setting, and we didn’t want to do it at our homes; what is our mutual criteria? Great farm to table food (by Nola's Events of course!), natural setting, centrally located, sharing our special love with family and friends, creating a sacred ceremony, are some. Hmm, where would that be? I know most of the venues that are out there (I thought)...
So, just by chance, I’m having a meeting with Michelle DeRouen, from Seattle Bride, about advertising at a luncheon meeting and I tell her I’m engaged.
I asked her if she knew of any venues in the south end that she liked. She had just heard of a new venue, Black Diamond Gardens.
So I emailed Deidra, the owner, and made an appointment for Dutch and me for the following day. The moment we got out of the car and saw the grounds and were warmly welcomed by Deidra, we knew that we had found our venue! Charming, gorgeous grounds, unpretentious, fabulous greenhouse for the reception, farm animals, a pond, an old cabin for the bridal area and a Winnebago for the groom’s, with a crazy sound system and an alter to make any bride feel like a fairy princess. Sold. And we both knew it. If you'd love to see what I mean, Black Diamonds Gardens is hosting an open house May 21 from 12-5pm!
Trust your feelings and if you’re struggling with one or the other not liking it, keep looking! Until next time,
